Jerry William Mellott, Sr., age 67, passed away on November 28, 2017, at the Fulton County Medical Center, in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born Tuesday, October 24, 1950, in Warfordsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Waugaman) Mellott.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Marie (Kerns) Mellott, of Needmore, Pa.; two sons, Jerry W. Mellott, Jr., and Harold Mellott, both of Needmore; two daughters, Ann Margaret Blake, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Tessa Lynch, of Needmore; nine grandchildren, Harley Youngblood, Mariah Vinton, Carly Blake, Tiffany Mellott, Christy Blake, Hailey Mellott, Charity Mellott, Mikayla Blake, and Desiree Mellott; two step–grandsons, Justin and Hayden Vogt; three step-great-grandsons, Cameron Dorsey, Jaxon Vogt, and Lynken Vogt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Gordon; and three brothers, Eugene, Frank, and Kenny Mellott.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hancock Ward, since 1985.
Jerry was a life member of the North American Hunting Club; a member of the Fulton County CB Club; the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company; the Needmore Fire Police; the Needmore Boy Scouts of America Troop 45, and the Latter-day Saints Troop 35.
He was a softball coach for numerous years. Jerry loved NASCAR racing; wrestling; and was also an avid hunter.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 Douglas Avenue, Hancock, Md., and on Saturday, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church. Bishop Lance Hendershot will officiate. Burial will follow at the Sideling Hill Primitive Baptist Cemetery, 6600 Sideling Hill Road, Needmore, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name, to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750, to help defray funeral expenses.
