Hancock, Maryland

     Rosie M. Knable, age 73, of Hancock, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the home of her son, in Hancock.

     Born August 27, 1938, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Viola Myers Weller, and the widow of Joe Knable, who died May 29, 2004.

     She was a homemaker, and had been employed with the Webster B. Harrison Post #26 American Legion, in Hancock, as a cook for eighteen years. She was a member of the Post #26 Ladies Auxiliary.

     She was a member of the Hancock Church of God.

     She is survived by one daughter, Debra Cunningham and husband, Tom, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two sons, Vernon A. Knable and wife, Susan, and Billy J. Knable, Sr. and wife, Tracey, all of Hancock; one sister, Mary Jane Keefer, of Indian Springs, Md.; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

      She was preceded in death by two brothers, John P. Shives, and Calvin Myers.

     A service will be held on Thursday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock Church of God. Rev. Terry Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Bridge Cemetery, in Hancock, Md.

     The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

     The family requests that, to help defray funeral expenses, contributions may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, P.A., 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750-0368.
