     Joele Clifton Smith, age 34, of Washington St., Hagerstown, was called home to be with our Heavenly family Monday February 16, 2010 at his home.
    Born March 8, 1975 in Hagerstown, he was the son of Janet R. Effland Shoemaker of Hancock, MD. and Curtis E. Smith of Berkeley Springs, WV.

     He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hancock.
     He was a 1993 Graduate of Flintstone High School, Flintstone, MD.
     Joele was very artistic and loved nature.
     He served in the US Air Force.

     He is survived by his mother and stepfather Johnny Shoemaker of Hancock, MD. and his father and stepmother Wanda Smith of Berkeley Springs, WV.; fiancé Jo Ann Kelley and her extended family, Robin and William Kelley; one daughter, Olivia Payton Smith and one son Tyler Lee Clifton Smith, both of Hagerstown; one sister Wendy Rachelle Vance and husband Melvin Ricky, of Greenup, KY., one brother Curtis Adam Smith of Hagerstown; sister-in law Jessica Dilley; nieces and nephews, Karen Vance, Richard Vance, Brittany Smith, Bethany Vance, Kyle Vance, Anna Vance, Melvin Vance, Justin, Isabelle, and William Knode, Jasmyne Kelly and Faith Hull.

     He was preceded in death by one brother, Matthew Tate Smith, and beloved aunt Bobbi and uncle Larry Unger.

     Services will be private, held at the convenience of the family.
     The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 23 from 3-5p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, MD.  With respect to the Catholic church protocal during lent, in lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers for Joele and his loving family and memorial contributions to St. Peter's Catholic Church, 16 E. High St., Hancock, MD. 21750.
