     Donald L. McCarty, Sr. age 81 of Baptist Road, died Tuesday January 5, 2010 at his home.
     Born November 18, 1928 in Hancock, MD, he was the son of the late Earl Noel and Margaret (Starliper) McCarty and the husband of the late Janice Ann Donegan McCarty who died June 17, 2008.
     He was retired from Fleetwood Industries in Hancock, MD
     He was a dedicated member of Tonoloway Rod & Gun Club and a member of the Woodman of the World.
     He was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church.
     He is survived by one daughter, Peggy  McCarty-Zeigler of Hagerstown, MD, one son, Donald L. McCarty, Jr. of Hancock, MD, one sister, Mary Ann Mortzfeldt of Hancock, MD,  grandchildren, Bill, Michelle, Chris, David, Denero, John and Dominique; great grandchildren, Rachel, Ericah and Grace. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann McCarty-Young, six brothers, Harold, Otho, Charles, Paul and Roger McCarty.
     A service will be held Friday January 8, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. and Rev. Steve McCarty will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
     The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD. For the convenience of family and friends the funeral home will be open 2-8 p.m. on Thursday.
     The family requests that memorial contributions to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742
