Needmore, Pennsylvania

     Roger Lee Hensley, Sr. age 58 of Thompson Road, died Monday January 4, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.

     Born November 13, 1951 he was the son of Herbert L. Hensley of Warfordsburg, PA and the late Mary L. Shoemaker Hill and step son of the late Kenneth Hill.

     He was a 1969 graduate of Hancock High School.

     He served in the United States Marine Corp during Viet Nam and was in the Army Reserves.

     He was employed with the State of Maryland as a Correctional Officer and formerly was employed at Fairchild, as a crew chief for the A-10.

     He was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Hancock, MD, and was a member of the MCEA.

     He was a member of the Needmore Bible Church and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

     Besides his father he is survived by his wife Darlene K. Sigel Hensley who he married March 18, 1972 at Orchard Ridge 1st Church of God, two sons, Roger Lee Hensley, Jr. and wife Nicole of Clear Spring, MD, Brian Kenneth Hensley and wife Jodie of St. Thomas, PA, one daughter, Amanda Ellen Hensley of Chambersburg, PA, three sisters, Donna K. Weller of Warfordsburg, PA, Brenda L. Morris of Hagerstown, MD, Cathy Arnold of Keyser, WV, one brother, Gary W. Hensley of Hancock, MD, one step-brother, Nicholas Hill of Clear Spring, MD, ten grandchildren, Chelsea Smith, Corbin, Carissa, Cayleigh, Claire, Cate, Baylie and Briar Hensley, Alainna Younker and David McDaniel; a number of nieces and nephews.

     A service will be held Thursday January 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Needmore Bible Church, Rev, Doug Poffenberger will officiate. Burial with a military service by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in the Cedar Grove Christian Cemetery.

     The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD, where the Honor Guard of MCI will be present. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service. For the convenience of family and friends the funeral home will be open 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday.

     The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742
