Elda Lorraine (Coffman) Mellott, age 91, of Mercersburg, Pa., went to be with her Lord on October 2, 2019, at the Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care, in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born on May 27, 1928, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lilly Mae (Bishop) Coffman; and the widow of Kermit Harold Mellott, whom she married on August 5, 1944 at the St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, and who passed away on October 4, 2010.
She was a member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock.
In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked as a clerk and a seamstress. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
Elda is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Mellott) White and her husband, Warren, of Mercersburg, Pa.; a son, D. Gene Mellott and his wife, Linda, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; a sister, Doris Coffman, of Hancock, Md.; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, M. Lynn Mellott, on February 9, 2017; a granddaughter, Theresa Mellott; four sisters, Ethel Wink, Martha Stanley, Mary O’Rourke and Edna Hixon; and five brothers, Vernon Coffman, Charles Coffman, Elwood Coffman, Wilson Coffman and Ercel Coffman.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md., and at the church one hour prior to the funeral services.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., at the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Needmore, Pa., on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. and Rev. Mac Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
