Ora Mae Thompson, age 86, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019, at her home.
Born September 12, 1933, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mae (Stoner) Hovermale; and the widow of Robert Vernon Thompson, who died November 13, 2009.
She was a member of the Hancock Assembly of God Church; and a volunteer for the Mt. Hope Prison Ministries, in Hagerstown, Md.
She had been employed, for over seventeen years, by the former London Fog, in Hancock.
She was an avid player of a variety of games with her family, and a bird watcher.
Ora is survived by eight children, Nancy Rinard and her husband, Alton, of Hancock, Md., Patricia Woodal, of Hancock, Jane Sarricchio, of Daytona, Fla., Connie Malekar and her husband, Ramachandra, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., Timothy Thompson, also of Great Cacapon, Terry Thompson and his wife, Marla, of Leeton, Mo., Mark Thompson and his wife, Anya, of Hopewell, Pa., and Susan Bennett and her husband, Jack, of Mercersburg, Pa.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal McCusker, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Carol Keefer, and her husband, Donnie, of Needmore, Pa.; one brother, James Hovermale and his wife, Teresa, of Great Cacapon, W.Va.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Wood; and eleven brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends at the Hancock Assembly of God Church, 431 North Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, Md., on Friday, October 25, 2019, from 10:00 until 12:00 noon, with services at 12:00 noon. Rev. Donald Preston will officiate, and burial will follow in the Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
