Floyd Joseph Keefer, Sr., age 89, of Hancock, Md., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home.
Born October 14, 1927, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Bruce F. and Leona (Miller) Keefer, and the loving husband of Bertha Lucille (Reed) Keefer, whom he was married to for seventy-one years.
Floyd was employed at C. William Hetzer for twenty years. Then in 1972 he went to work at Rayloc, in Hancock, for twenty years, where he became supervisor for the Starter department until he retired in 1992.
Floyd enjoyed working in his garden, talking to friends, and spending time with his family reminiscing and telling stories, which everyone loved to listen to.
In addition to his wife, Floyd is survived by a son, Floyd Joseph Keefer, Jr. and his wife, Jo-Ann, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a daughter, Deborah Kay Apple and her husband, Paul, Jr., also of Berkeley Springs; four grandchildren, Lisa R. Bivens and her husband, Richard, Lori J. Yost and her husband, Cody, Kristy J. Keefer and Nathan, and Joseph Keefer; seven great-grandchildren, Cody Bivens, Cedric Yost, Gracey Mae Yost, Reece Yost, Matthew Bivens, Wyatt and Kayleigh Spring; and three sisters, Josephine Clingerman, of Hagerstown, Md., Actress Golar, of Stephenson, Va., and Delores Zimmerman, of Amaranth, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Regina Garvey and Kay Douglas.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, in Hancock, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be private, at the convenience of the family.
