Homer Eugene Schetrompf, Jr., age 66, of Hancock, died on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the VA Medical Center, in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., on March 10, 1950, he was the son of the late Homer E., Sr. and Charlene (Stotler) Schetrompf, and the widower of Donna Marie (Moats) Schetrompf, who passed away June 15, 2012.

He was a member of the Hancock Presbyterian Church.

He was a self-employed building contractor.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the US Marine Corps.

He was a member of the Hancock Lions Club; the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion; and he served on the Hancock Town Council from 2012 until the present.

He is survived by two sons, Homer E. Schetrompf, lll, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., and Mark Schetrompf/Weller, of Hancock, Md.; seven sisters, Kathy McCarty, Robin Mosier. Vicki Fredericks, Patty Schetrompf and Sherry Weaver, all of Hancock, Tina McCormick, of Mars, Pa., and Gloria McKinley, of Hagerstown, Md.; two brothers, Mike and David Schetrompf, both of Hancock; five grandchildren, Santana, Karleigh, Lauren, and Landen Schetrompf, and Brooklyn McCusker; a number of nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Penny Charlene Schetrompf; and one brother, Danny Schetrompf.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 East Main Street, Hancock. Rev. Terry Martin/Minnich will officiate. Burial will follow, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, at the Damascus Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock.
