Melvin Iden

Melvin Leroy Iden, age 92, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at his home, while under the care of Hartland Hospice.

Born February 13, 1926, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late Ernest and Ethel (Stotler) Iden.

He was the first employee hired by Callas Construction, Inc., in Hagerstown, Md., and he retired from his employment with them.  He loved to help people every chance he could.

He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Vantz and her husband, Frederick, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a son, Randy E. Mills, of Warfordsburg; a brother, Paul Iden, of Hancock; a sister, Patricia Morris, of Warfordsburg; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church, 12941 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, Pa. Rev. Edward Blank will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750 to help defray expenses.
