Ray Alvin Knable, age 79, of Needmore, Pa., passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital, in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born October 17, 1938, in West Chester, Pa., he was the son of the late Jabez and Gladys (Schetromph) Knable; and the widower of Betty Jane (Golden) Knable, whom he married March 27, 1964 and who died November 7, 2014.
He attended Green Hill School, in Harrisonville, Pa.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Later he worked at H.L. Mills, in Hancock, Holloway Construction, in Somerset, Pa., the Ramada Inn, in Breezewood, Pa., and retired from the Motel 6, in Hagerstown, Md.
Ray was a member of the Hancock Assembly of God Church, in Hancock, Md.
He is survived by his son, Allen Ray Knable, of Needmore; his daughter, Stacy Knable, of Hancock, Md.;five grandchildren, Christine, Juliana and Kari Knable, Devan Powell and Haiden Knode; a great-granddaughter, Athena Turner; two brothers, Charles and Carl Knable; two sisters, Mildred "Mid" Stotler, and Catherine Strait; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Harold Knable; and a sister, Alma Garland.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 15, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Hancock Assembly of God Church, 431 North Pennsylvania Ave., in Hancock, Md.
Funeral services will be held at the Church on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, with Rev. Donald L. Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery, in Needmore.
