Robert Dale Hixon, Sr., age 74, of Warfordsburg, died on Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born April 26, 1941, in Buck Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late Phillip W. and Pauline (Mann) Hixon, and the husband of Betty Jane (Moats) Hixon, of Warfordsburg, whom he married November 29, 1958, in Hancock, Md.
He was a retired fork-lift operator from JLG Industries, in McConnellsburg, Pa. He was previously employed as a truck driver at Kelly Springfield Tire Co., in Cumberland, Md. He was also employed at True Value Hardware, in Hancock, as a mechanic.
He was a member of the Buck Valley Christian Church, in Warfordsburg.
He was a Union Township Supervisor, and a member of the Buck Valley Park Association; the James W. Bowers Masonic Lodge #173 AF&AM, in Hancock; and the Jaffa Shrine, in Cumberland, Md.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert “Pud” Hixon, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Warfordsburg; four grandchildren; one sister, Marlene Sullivan, of Warfordsburg; and one brother, Gerald Hixon, of Hagerstown.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Curtis Hixon; and one infant brother.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, Pa. Rev. William Swope and Rev. Scott Gibbs will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.
