Walter Rohm

Walter Blaine Rohm, 88, Warfordsburg, PA., passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his home.

Born August 23, 1933, in Amaranth, PA., he was the son of the late Clyde Yoie Rohm and Lydia Pearl Crawford Rohm, and the husband of Mildred Hope Garland Rohm, whom he was married to for 64 years.

Walter’s life revolved around the church. He was a lifelong member of Amaranth Church of the Brethren where he served as a Deacon.  He also oversaw the construction of the social hall and was various other positions in the church.

He attended Fairview School in Amaranth.

He was a construction worker, school bus driver, and a township supervisor, but his passion was being a farmer and saw mill operator.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Daniel W. Rohm, of Warfordsburg, PA. ; two daughters, Sharon M. Hendrickson, of Warfordsburg, PA, and Joyce L. Walters, of Upper Strasburg, PA.; four grandchildren, Joe Hendrickson, Shawna Hengst, Steve Dubbs, and Amanda Dubbs; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ethan, Sara, Adriana, Alexus, Allie, and Abigail; one brother, Fred Rohm; two sisters, Katherine Chaney and Sylvia Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James B. Rohm; four brothers, Rollie, Harrison, Jasper, and Melvin; a sister, Viola; and an infant sister.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 3, 2022, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Amaranth Church of the Brethren, 2709 McKees Gap Rd, Warfordsburg, PA 17267.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held with all his loving family and friends gathered, on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Amaranth Church of the Brethren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Walter’s name to Amaranth Church of the Brethren, 2709 McKees Gap RD, Warfordsburg PA 17267.
