Adrian Huebner

Little Orleans, Maryland

Adrian Stephen Huebner, age 85, of Little Orleans, Md., passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 while under hospice care in Ellicott City, Md.

Born March 7, 1936 in the old Sibley Hospital, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late August William Huebner and Eulene (Dowdell) Huebner.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force right after his graduation from Montgomery Blair High School, in Silver Spring, Md., in 1954. After basic training at Sampson AFB in N.Y., he spent most of his 3 ½ years of service in Japan, Sacramento, Ca., and Ft. Worth, Tx. After his discharge in 1958, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1992.

He was divorced from his first wife, Shirley (Stewart) Huebner, whom he had married in March of 1958. They had five children, but one little girl died at birth.

In 1994 he married Mary (Ogle) Huebner, and together they opened the Little Orleans Lodge, a B&B which was located along the C&O Canal and Potomac River, in Little Orleans, Md. It became a landmark for hikers, bikers and nature lovers. (A special thanks goes out to Pete and Angeline Robinson, of Flintstone, Md., for looking out for Adrian for all those years.)

He will be greatly missed by his four surviving children, Corey, Stewart, Dana, and Ross; his ten grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, with a funeral service to be held at 12:00 noon, with Pastor William Swope officiating. A private burial will be held later in the Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery, in Flintstone, Md.
