Alice Gerber

Alice F. Gerber, 81, of Hancock Md., entered Heaven’s Gates on August 19th, 2021.

Born Jun 15, 1940 in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late David E. Keefer and Stella J. Keefer.

Alice was a graduate of Southern Fulton High School in 1958.  After graduating, she began a lifelong career of service across multiple governmental agencies.  Initially serving as a Secretary for the PA Department of Commerce; she then went on to serve as the Secretary for the US Navy Ships Parts Control; a Secretary for the U.S. Army; a managing member of Communications for FEMA; and finally, after 35 years of service, she concluded her career as a Communications Manager for the Government Services Administration.

Beyond a career of dedicated government service, she was a past member of the Business & Professional Club of Hagerstown; a founding member of the Hancock Rescue Squad Auxiliary; and a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine Unit of Daughters of the Nile. Finally, and of greatest importance to her, she was a member of the Hancock Presbyterian Church since 1965, where she served as an Elder and Treasurer for well over 17 years.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Laurence “Larry” Gerber, Sr; 2 sons and a daughter, Larry Gerber, Jr. and wife, Patti, of Hagerstown, Md., Loren Gerber and wife, Rebecca, of Whiteland, Indiana, and Lura Norris and husband, Patrick, of Hancock Md.; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Gerber, Abigail Gerber, Kaitlyn Gerber, Chloey Norris, Charleigh Norris, Logan Norris and Jocelyn Norris. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Keefer; as well as her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald E. Keefer; her sister, T. Joyce Keefer; and one nephew, Ronald E. Keefer, Jr.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Hancock Presbyterian Church.  Friends will be received at 12 Noon, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hancock Presbyterian Church, 117 East Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750; or to a charitable organization of your choosing.
