James Leo Golden, 89, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his home in Greencastle, PA.
Born December 20, 1932, in Warfordsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Leo Carl Golden and Sara Barnhart and the husband of Margaret, who he married on December 25, 1950, in Breezewood, PA.
He was a member of the Warfordsburg Lions Club and an avid golfer.
He attended Broadfording Christian Church.
He was the owner and operator of State Line and Econolodge Motels, Bonanza Restaurant, and Airhill Storage all located at State Line, MD.
He is a gradate of Southern Fulton School and served on the Board of the Southern Fulton Senior Alumni Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Greg Golden, Chambersburg, PA., Jimmy Golden, Maugansville, MD., Virginia Helweg, Washington State, and Cindy Serra, Chambersburg, PA.; three sisters, Lois Paff, Falling Waters, WV., Mary Kerns and Betty Feagley, Warfordsburg, PA.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Golden, and a brother, Richard Golden.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2022, 6:00-8:00 pm, and Friday, June 17, 10:00-11:00 am. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St, Hancock, MD. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 17, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Grove Funeral Home. Rev. William Wyant will officiate. Burial will follow at the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 12941 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, PA.
