John Waltman, Sr.

John Leonard Waltman, Sr., age 91, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at his home in Buck Valley, Pa.

Born August 12, 1930, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Frank and Sadie Catherine (Mooney) Waltman; and the widower of Frances Marie (Sigel) Waltman, who passed away November 9, 2003.

He was a veteran in the Air National Guard; and worked as a master electrician.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, in Warfordsburg, Pa.; the Edgemere Lodge 537 of Loyal Order of Moose, in Baltimore, Md; and of the IBEW Local Union 26 of Electrical Workers.

John was a dedicated snowbird, spending his winters in Florida for the past forty years.

He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline M. Nelson, of Florida; a son, John L. Waltman, Jr., of Hagerstown, Md.; a granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Smith; a grandson, Jared Matthew Nelson; and three great-grandchildren, Alexandra Smith, Luke Smith, and Hailey C. Nelson.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Karoll, and Doris Mary Hall; and two brothers, Frank James Waltman, and James Donald Waltman, Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 12:00 noon, at Zion Lutheran Church, 5739 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, Pa.  Pastor Jim Gross will be officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
