Marlene E. Layton Mohn, age 87, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Embrace Hospice House, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Born May 31, 1933, in Warfordsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James and Janet Schetrompf.

She was a graduate of Southern Fulton High School.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, in Chambersburg; and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a former Worthy Matron.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis M. Layton and Ronda, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; a grandson, Shawn M. Layton, of Chambersburg; and a granddaughter and her husband, Jessica S. Miller and Matthew, of Carlisle, Pa. Marlene has three step-sons, Gregory Mohn and his wife, Karen, of Shippensburg, Pa., Jeffrey Mohn and his wife, Lisa, of Shippensburg, and Stephen Mohn, of Shippensburg; step-grandchildren, Laurie Kaufman and her husband, Matthew, of Chambersburg, Bryan Mohn and his wife, Breanna, of Toms River, N.J., Justin Mohn, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Joshua Mohn, of Philadelphia; and four step-great-grandchildren. Marlene is survived by three siblings, Nancy Fox, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Margaret Carnell, of Hedgesville, W.Va., and John Schetrompf, of Needmore, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marcus E. Layton; and her second husband, George B. Mohn. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Jay Schetrompf and Gerald Schetrompf.

Marlene loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a “Nana” to them all. She loved dogs, and especially her dog, Angel. She loved people in general, and had many friends.

Services will be private due to COVID.
