Norman Trail, age 85, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, at Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born in Hancock, Md., on March 25, 1935, he was the son of the late John William and Rintha Grace (Clingerman) Trail; and the husband of Geraldine Marie (Hovermale) Trail for 67 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Tonoloway Road and Gun Club.

He worked for Dillon Orchards; Martin Marietta; and retired, after 41 years, from R.F. Kline where he was an asphalt superintendent.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, playing cards with his friends, and spinning a good tale. He was dearly loved and will be missed. Gone, but never forgotten, in our hearts forever.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Diane Crouse and husband, Bob, of Twinsburg, Oh., Joyce Fleming and husband, Lee, and Penny Lipinski and husband, Steve, both of Hancock; one son, Richard “Rick” Trail and wife, Wanda, of Needmore, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Liz (Crouse) Cosens, Sarah (Crouse) Hammerschmidt, Laura (Fleming) Creek, Amanda Fleming, Eric Trail, Tony Trail, Jennifer (Trail) Hoover, Kristen (Trail) Jenkins, and Jenna Lipinski; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Powers, of Hancock, and Linda Bain, of Needmore, Pa.; and one brother, Ronald Trail, of Hancock.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Idella Lucas; and three brothers, John, Walter, and Larry Trail; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Thursday, October 1, 2020, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private service, for immediate family only, will be held in the Hancock United Methodist Church, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2020. Graveside services, open to the public, will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 W. Main St., Hancock, Md. 27150.
