Paul Joseph McCusker, age 74, of Little Orleans, Md., passed away April 17, 2020, at UPMC Mercy Hospital, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born at home on January 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Arlington Sylvester and Jessie Eleanor (Barnes) McCusker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nelda McCusker.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Jean (Barnhart) McCusker, whom he was married to for 52 years; one sister, Teresa Arleen Yonker; two daughters, Deana Marie McCusker and her husband, Jay Heffner, and Tina Rachelle Whiteside and her husband, Brad; four grandchildren, Michael Joseph McCusker-Kinna, Brittany Nichole McCusker-Strait and her significant other, Nathan Smith, Jeremiah Kelly Baer and Colby Hunter Whiteside.

Paul was a 1964 graduate of Flintstone High School. After graduation, he worked for the State of Maryland as a surveyor. He then enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1966, serving four years, and received an honorable discharge in 1971. He then pursued careers with Fairchild, Mack Truck, and then began his 30-year career with the railroad system, which included B&O, Chessie and CSX. He retired as a Track Foreman in January, 2006.

Paul was a dedicated Catholic, attending both St. Peter, in Hancock, Md. and St. Patrick, in Little Orleans, where he helped with ground maintenance for many years.

His hobbies included watching sports on TV; watching his children and grandchildren play sports; taking Jeep rides with his dogs; and cutting wood with his long-time friend, Johnny Gaither.

Graveside burial of cremains will be held on April 25, 2020, at St Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High Street, Hancock, Md.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Ashkettle, Brian Fink, Bradley Hofe, Paul Barnhart, Jr., Leonard Barnhart, and David Barnhart. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
