Stella Hickerson

Stella Ann (Myers) Hickerson, age 101, of Hedgesville, W.Va., and formerly of Florida, died while under Hospice care at her home, on Monday, September 2, 2019.

Born January 26, 1918, in Caruthersville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Hal and Eleanor Myers; and the widow of Hurshell H. Hickerson.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, in Hancock, Md.

For more than thirty years she worked as a clerk typist for the National Security Agency, in Ft. Meade, Md.

She enjoyed going to dances with her friends.

Stella is survived by her son, Richard A. Hickerson and his wife, Betty, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and her daughter, Jane Sadler and her husband, Bob, of Little River, S.C.; ten grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; and one sister.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md.

A Prayer Service will be held at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2019, at the St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 E. High St., Hancock, Md., with Fr. John J. Lombardi officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stella may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church, at the above address.
